Is there anything better than sipping a delicious cocktail on the beach (or if you’re a city gal – on a rooftop) in the summer?  The only thing that might make it better is if Ryan Gosling was serving them to you.

Today I’m sharing 5 recipes for scrumptious summer cocktails that any gal can easily (key word here) make for your next outdoor gathering, garden party, or Saturday brunch.  Happy mixing!

Moscow Mule. I have definitely become a fan-girl of the Moscow Mule. Mainly because I absolutely love ginger beer! This drink is simple and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 4 to 6 ounces ginger beer

Instructions

Squeeze lime juice into a glass (or mason jar!). Add a few ice cubes, then pour in the vodka and add cold ginger beer (no, not ginger ale, but if that’s all you have, then go for it).

Mint Julep. Ah, the traditional drink of the Kentucky Derby. Or the traditional drink of the bourbon-loving girl (right here!).

Ingredients

  • Leaves from 4-5 mint sprigs
  • 2 sugar cubes or 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 1/2 ounces bourbon whiskey
  • Mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

Place mint and simple syrup into glass. Muddle well (you can even use a spoon to press leaves) so that the sugar dissolves, and also pulls out of the aroma of the mint. Add bourbon, add crushed ice and stir. The glass should look frosty. Add mint for a lovely garnish and sip for taste!

Grapefruit Spritzer. I love grapefruit juice all year round. It has such a crisp and delicious flavor that is perfect for mixing. This drink is so easy, you’ll be sipping in under 2 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of tequila
  • Grapefruit juice
  • Seltzer
  • Simple Syrup
  • Lime wedge

Instructions

Put one or two shots of tequila into a glass (or use a champagne flute!). Add ice, grapefruit juice, seltzer, and simple syrup. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Pimm’s Cup. This drink is derived from the British beverage Pimm’s. Whip up this drink quickly and easily, and voila! Cheerio, mates!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of Pimms
  • Ginger ale
  • Cucumber slice
  • Lemon slice
  • Sprigs of mint

Instructions

Muddle a cucumber slice, lemon slice, and a sprig of fresh mint in the bottom of a glass. Add a shot or two of Pimm’s and top with ginger ale.

Not Your Mama’s Iced Tea. I love iced tea in the summer. I almost prefer it to water (somehow it feels more refreshing). Try this new spin on an old summer staple!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of Bourbon
  • Peach Iced Tea (if you don’t want to brew your own, you can even use Snapple!)
  • Lemon wedge

Instructions

Put a shot or two of bourbon in a glass. Mix in iced tea (brew your own if you like less – or more - sugar, or feel free to use a pre-made version). Mix up, add ice, and garnish with lemon wedge.

Happy mixing, my friends!
