Most of us eat like there’s no tomorrow. Millions of foodies would do absolutely anything to eat what they want, when they want it, and however much of it they want. Unfortunately, even though eating and loving food consists of hunting down your favorite restaurants and knowing exactly what to order (a lot of work), it isn’t exactly a real hobby.
What I consider a great hobby, and something to take interest in if you absolutely adore eating, is baking. This way you get to create your own yummy treat exactly how you want it, and you get to eat as much of it as you want! People may think that baking is way too difficult to do if you’re not ‘chef material,’ but this isn't true at all. Baking is actually quite simple. All you need is the right ingredients, a recipe, and a hungry person to eat the finished product!

Baking is one of my favorite things to do in my spare time. There's no better feeling than mixing and matching different ingredients and tasting the outcome after you've just made your own delicious creation. Cookies are my all-time favorite dessert to bake. I’ve made over 20 different kinds of cookie recipes and my friends and family always devour them within minutes.
Recently, while mixing and matching different ingredients around my kitchen, I decided to try substituting the large amount of butter that most cookie recipes call for with virgin coconut oil. Keep in mind, I make regular chocolate chip cookies with about a half of a solid butter stick; most recipes call for a full butter stick, or sometimes even two full sticks, which is an amount that is ridiculous and extremely unhealthy.
When I substituted the coconut oil, I was worried that a lot of the flavor and perfect consistency wouldn’t remain the same because butter seemed to be such a major ingredient. To my surprise, I was completely wrong. The cookies were not only tastier, but they felt so much lighter and I felt better about eating them because I knew there wasn’t tons of butter in them. After trying out this new healthy alternative, I decided to search the web to find out other healthier foods I could incorporate into baking my cookies. This is just one substitution you can do if you want to make baking healthier—read on for more!
