As the sparkling dust of the news of Meghan Markle’s engagement to Prince Harry settles, we’ve made note of a key aspect of Markle’s newfound Royal fame: Markle is bringing a new spirit to the British monarchy with her diverse background and vivacious personality in the classiest of ways.

Like a true Royal, Markle is handling her soon-to-be title with sophistication and humility, giving full respect to the traditions and formalities of the Royal Family.  She brings a lighthearted bubbliness to her role, while still fulfilling her duties as a future Royal.  Young women can learn from Markle, who is gracefully accepting change through finishing her acting career and choosing to close all of her social media accounts, and embracing her new life with open arms.  It speaks to her maturity and shows her openness to new experiences and growth.

In addition to the way Markle is handling her Royal role, she's bringing a fresh, empowered vision to the traditional way of thinking in the Royal family.  She describes herself as a feminist who advocates for all women.  At only eleven years old, she wrote letters to Hillary Clinton, the First Lady at the time, as well as lawyer Gloria Allred and journalist Linda Ellerbee for encouragement and support in standing up for feminism and women’s rights. She took action on a Proctor & Gamble dishwashing liquid commercial that implied women are the only ones who wash dishes at home.  Markle is also a renowned actress on the TV show Suits, and a humanitarian involved with the UN Women.

Concerned with the discrimination many minority women deal with in the United States, Markle has demonstrated her determination to stand up for every woman and their voice through the many roles she’s has held throughout her life.  As a feminist, business woman, actress, philanthropist, and now future Royal, she is destined to make a difference through the platforms she's been given.

'It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision.  May we empower each other to carry out such vision — because it isn’t enough to simply talk about equality.  One must believe it.  And it isn’t enough to simply believe in it.  One must work at it.  Let us work at it.  Together.  Starting now,' Markle has said.

Meghan Markle is a true rarity in her new role as a British Royal thanks to her strong-willed personality, coupled with her refined and graceful manner.  She's a genuine role model for young women today, bringing a different dynamic to her position. In her words, 'With fame comes opportunity, but it also includes responsibility – to advocate and share, to focus less on glass slippers and more on pushing through glass ceilings.  And, if I'm lucky enough, to inspire.'
