Relationship Tips for Commitment

How do you go from dating to marriage? The decision to make this promise is usually organic and the result of spending enough time together to realize that you both want to make this promise.  If your partner doesn’t feel this way after two years of getting to know you, then you should cut your losses and move on. But, not before first asking your partner whether they see marriage down the road.

An engagement isn’t a decision made by one person and announced with a ring – it’s a mutual decision made by two parties who have discussed expectations and standards.  The first step to getting engaged is to have a conversation about the various parts of marriage – philosophies towards money, child rearing, religion, and partnership roles are essential conversations to have before anyone takes a trip to Harry Winston.  You might find that you don’t want to get married or that your partner isn’t ready for that kind of responsibility.

bSmart Tip: The right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing – don’t pressure anyone into an engagement decision.  You’ll be pressuring them into being married to you the rest of your life.
