How to Dress Well from Work to Weekend for the Petite Professional

Half the women in the US are considered petite, which is defined as 5'4" and under, yet there are very limited petite clothing designers. As a result, petite women have to find clothes by doing a lot of digging, paying a lot of money for alterations and occasionally shopping in the kid’s section.
So when you finally find a great petite wardrobe essential you better know how to incorporate it into the many facets of your life. As the CEO & Founder of Carolina Alvo, a petite clothing brand, I'll show you how to wear our classic petite pieces from work to weekend and everywhere in between.
1) The Blazer
Work: Put together the ultimate power look with a blazer/skirt suit. Round out the very spring-friendly look with a chic blush collared top and pastel green heals.
Weekend: Wear the blazer on a weekend brunch date by pairing with a simple t-shirt, mint green skinny jeans and comfy sandals.
2) The Dress
Work: A dress with a universally flattering silhouette is a must. At work you can look effortlessly put together with a black fit-and-flare dress accompanied with a cute neck tie, colorful pumps and a neutral purse.
Weekend: If you’re headed to date night post-work, you can keep the dress and swap out the accessories for a flat-out sexy look. Throw on a gold-colored statement necklace, sexy stilettos and a jeweled clutch. And don’t forget the lipstick!
3) The Pencil Skirt
Work: This classic pencil skirt is a sexy staple with an air of sophistication. Pair it with a classic peplum top and a gold & black cuff. Leave room for a pop of pink in the heels.
Weekend: Show off your more creative side by incorporating this classic piece with funkier counterparts. Throw on a bright crop-top under an edgy leather jacket. And finish off the look with shoes that make a serious statement.
4) The Ankle Pant
Work: Give your wardrobe an instant upgrade with this essential pant. Ankle length makes switching from your practical flats to fierce heels seamless. Wear them with a neutral top and heal and bring in color with a large purse.
Weekend: Look adorable while running the inevitable weekend errands. Wear a fun & flirty top and comfy flats and bring along a large tote.
5) The Blouse
Work: Pair this classic white blouse with black pants and heels and add in a pop of color with a yellow blazer.
Weekend: Want a sexy outfit for a night out with the girls? Pair the classic blouse with burgundy skirt and super sexy peep-toe shoes. Top off the outfit with an unexpected accessory: a black fedora.
