Meet our bSmart Member of the Month: Courtnie Weber!
Neighborhood: Queens (but forever a Chicagoan!)
Occupation: Member Engagement Manager, WeWork (and licensed attorney)
University: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Female Inspiration: Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Dream Mentor: Barack Obama
Aspiration: To rule the world! Or just to change it.
In the News: NY Times Editorial
Leadership: Reddit, bSmart of course!, AsgardRadio.com
Fun Fact: I have a lot of tattoos, but my favorite is one of an anatomical heart - that belongs to my Grandpa, because it’s designed with the new arterial connections after a bypass surgery he had. So no other anatomical heart tattoo is like mine.
Look of the Season: For me, this is high waisted jeans, a comfy but loose fitting sweater, and winter boots of some kind.
Ultimate Accessory: Sunglasses. They inspire confidence!
Favorite Store: Really, it’s a Coach store. I could buy all of the gorgeous bags.
Go-to Outfit: Bootcut jeans, off the shoulder black top, and black wedge suede heels. And sunglasses, of course!
Must-have Shoes: Comfy but cute tennis shoes - proper footwear is a must in NYC!
Favorite Nail Polish: Really, whatever gel polish they use at Valley Nails! I can’t be trusted with regular nail polish…
Can't Live Without Product: Aveeno Daily Moisturizing.
Salon Recommendation: I’m kind of a DIY girl myself, but if I do hit a salon, it’s usually an Aveda Institute salon, because the students do a great job and you can save some serious money.
Favorite Sports Team: In alphabetical order - Bears, Blackhawks, Illini, White Sox (and technically Bulls, but I’m not a huge basketball fan).
Signature Scent: Viva La Juicy by Juicy
Beauty Essential: Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighter Duo
Cocktail of Choice: Amaretto Sour, usually.
Best Date: During the Bar Exam, I stayed in a hotel to make the process easier, even though I was only across town from my house. After the last day of the exam, I came home to my husband cooking a nice Italian dinner, he had a glass of wine already poured, and was playing Frank Sinatra in the kitchen. We danced, laughed, and didn’t talk about the test at all. It was really thoughtful and lovely!
Travel Destination: I’m determined to get to Berlin and Munich, Germany.
Current Craving: Chicago style pizza!
Best Advice: Work smarter, not harder.
Words of Wisdom: “I am a woman. I'll accept, reject, subvert or ignore society's various expectations for me in whatever combination I see fit. Why? Because FUCK YOU, that’s why.” - Some comment I saw on Reddit a long time ago.
Favorite Quote: “We are the future. How will you make it better? How will you be remembered?” - Francisco “Frankie” Valencia
De-Stress Technique: Really loud music, and if I have the option, a nice long drive where I usually end up at a water source of some kind.
Latest Gadget: Fitbit Alta - I’m obsessed with this thing because it makes me competitive and forces me to get moving every day.
On My Playlist: Pretty much everything. Some highlights to prove I mean everything: “I Like It Heavy” by Halestorm, “Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Seger, “Not Ready to Make Nice” by the Dixie Chicks, “Wednesday Morning” by Macklemore, “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown” by Volbeat, “Bad Moon Rising” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, “The Baddest Girl” by Pentatonix, “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” by Pat Benetar, and “Joyride” by Roxette.
Favorite App: Twitter
Sorority: I was briefly a member of Phi Mu, Delta Chapter, but that didn’t end up being right for me.
